My hat's off to the designers of the Flagship, a combination of a skillet and a Dutch oven.
The cleverly-designed "Yoga Lid," which can be sealed to the pan with a twist, has holes for straining or steam escape; it also has a handle that allows it to stand vertically, serving as a see-through splatter guard, and dripping any condensation back into the pan.
Other features include an optional detachable handle, as well as a doohickey for plugging the steam holes (see video below).
The pitch video's pretty convincing:

Teleshopping design.
Those removable handles designs are common in Japan, having used them before and seeing similar materials being used they can melt if the pan gets really hot which is why tefal ones uses metal at the clamp.
My parents had a set of pans with detachable handles like that when I was a kid. The locking mechanisms rusted, jammed up, lost their grip strength, popped open when not held by hand, scratched up the paint on the outside of the pan, and ultimately went in the garbage.
Found it! They were TFal pans.
