This is a much more intelligent design approach to the kitchen grater. Whereas most are linear, requiring an inelegant back-and-forth motion to grate, this Ograte is circular.
It's a lot easier to grate, quickly, with a circular motion. The rim serves as a guardrail.
The flat edge is for scraping the gratings off of a cutting board.
And if you can't shake the muscle memory, it does still work in a back-and-forth motion; you just use the other side. (In other words the cutting edges have been aligned for back-and-forth on one side, circular on the other.)
The Ograte comes in medium and coarse varieties, and runs $17.
