Lucid, a Spain-based industrial design and engineering consultancy, designed these Dom light switches for manufacturer Fontini.

"The lever mechanism is an ergonomic and highly intuitive solution that simplifies the daily action of turning the lights on and off. A chrome-plated brass lever adds personality and emerges from a round central circle perfectly integrated into the square plate."

"The units are easy to install and operate, and the toggle mechanism works intuitively. The series is produced sustainably – a dimmer for all load types additionally helps to save energy."

The design was billed as "affordable," but though they won a design award this year, I wasn't able to find a price; they appear to not be in production yet.

Yeah, because its been the standard way of turning lights on and off for more than half a century.

"that simplifies the daily action of turning the lights on and off."
How does this simplify anything? Its a switch. Up is on, down is off. It doesn't really get more simple than that. Is it attractive? Yes. And I suspect that the feel of flipping this switch would be pretty satisfying. But their advertising copy is just nonsense.

  Toggles right, I had 'em on the dash of my '60's vintage British roadster.
  I wish knobs and toggles would come back on cars - 'hate those touchscreens.
