On a trip to the English resort town of Brighton, I was disappointed to see the beach was comprised of rocks, guaranteeing that even if I lived close enough to regularly visit, I wouldn't.
Faced with situations like these, architects worldwide are shoring up unpalatable beaches with design. Called "urban baths," "harbour baths" and "sea baths," these striking structures are enough to entice bodies to get into that water. It's got nothing on Hawaii, but it sure beats rocks.
