One incredible thing about the internet is there are people who can satisfy your curiosity for you. Canadian content creator Hand Tool Rescue is the guy who restored this antique fractal vise a few years ago:
He subsequently discovered this 110-year-old patent for a chair with a fractal seat:
To HTR's knowledge it was never made, and the question burned: Would such a chair be comfortable? There was only one way to find out, which was to fabricate one and sit in it.
HTR not only spent a considerable amount of time and materials on the build, he literally gave himself a hernia (the chair weighs some 150 pounds) that required surgery. If you can't commit to the full 22 minutes, the least you can do is give the video a scrub-through; at the end he provides his assessment of the design and suggestions for improvement.
