This thin, minimalist, cantilevered Mira laptop/side table is by British furniture designer Mark Gabbertas.

It uses an innovative manufacturing technique to achieve its structure:

"The two critical objectives of achieving an ultra-thin visible profile and a rigid structure are fulfilled by the use of a specifically developed double aluminium sheet layering process, which also keeps weight to a minimum. This inspired engineering results in a form without any visible fixing or clue to the construction techniques."

The Mira table was once in production by Chorus Furniture, but at press time that company appeared to be defunct.

Happy to say that the Mir table is still being made by Chorus, though they have now become part of the New Design Group; www.newdesigngroup.co.uk
It's a great table, and Mark is a very talented designer.
