Teenage Engineering has announced the forthcoming release of their first microphone, the CM-15.

Designed to be all things to all people, it's billed as both a studio and field microphone; it features the large-diaphragm capsule needed for professional-quality recording, but is rechargeable-battery-powered and has a diminutive, highly packable form factor. The company says it can be used for recording both vocals and instruments (including drums) in-studio, podcasts and interviews, out in the field, and attached to a video camera through the line-out.

The unit measures 90mm (3.5") x 65.5mm (2.6") x 19mm (3/4"), and weighs 132g (54.6 oz).

Outputs include aforementioned line-out (3.5mm) as well as mini XLR and USB-C.

There's a tiny kickstand built into the back, or you can mount it on their separately-sold Tripod Mini.

Both the CM-15 and the tripod are expected to start shipping this summer, for $1,200 and $120, respectively.
