iRobot Looj cleans gutters, traumatizes small children

In the last couple of days' CES coverage we've seen a couple dozen things that look sorta like an iPhone (in multiple sizes), a couple dozen more that look sorta like a MacBook, and this, the iRobot Looj, which cleans your gutters remotely.

For $129, if you've got a lot of gutters and like to keep them clean, it might be a good investment, but we've got to wonder -- how does it turn corners?

I just don't see how that could work. It has gotta get stuck. And you also have to go up on the roof multiple times to put him your gutters. I installed gutter guards on my home and don't even have to climb a ladder. There are some great ones at www.gutterglove.com.

@ron - For what it's worth, the official PR copy on the Gizmodo post says the handle detaches and serves as the remote, making the thing slim enough to slip under your struts. Still doesn't turn corners though -- I think you're supposed to run it the length of a gutter, climb up with a ladder, move it over, run it along the next straightaway, wash, rinse, repeat...

this was on sale for 40 bucks the other day at WOOT!

id get one except my gutters have struts in them that the handle would hit. nice try though.

It's a novel idea, but the reality is it makes a HUGE mess. A friend of mine bought one last year and it worked, but it sprayed the muck all over everything within a 20ft radius. So, the question is, do you want to pick it up with your hands out of the gutter, or sweep, rake, and hose the crap off any nearby surface?
