This A Line Storage Bench series was designed by Herman Studio, the brand of Danish furniture designer Jonas Herman Pedersen.
As a slight twist on what we in the 'States might call a blanket chest or hallway chest, the lid is bi-fold. "The way in which it opens with a leather strap is an important element of interaction with the bench," Pedersen writes.
"It is practical with a large area for storage – consisting of two separated compartments. The lid is lifted via a small leather handle and is held in place by the construction when in use."
"The two parallel grooves let the air inside the box ventilate naturally."
The oak bench comes in two widths, the 111cm (43.7") version shown above and an 86cm (33.9") wide version shown below.
There's also a taller laundry hamper version that's 43cm (17") wide.
The series is in production by Danish brand Form & Refine.

Clever idea the bifold. Trunk lids are usually a nuisance, even dangerous.
