This Twins Chair, by Kamakura-based architect Yuji Tanabe, is two chairs in one.
Even when sitting on the separated halves, "the spacing of the supports is comfortable for people's buttocks and back," the description says.
Originally manufactured at "a small factory in Tokyo," they came in a heavyweight version made of stainless steel (above) and a lightweight version made of thinner steel (below).
I used the past tense in the paragraph above because these were designed way back in 2004, and if they're still in production, the link eludes me.
