Design Within Reach has announced the winners of their 19th Champagne Chair Contest, held in partnership with high-end vintners Champagne Pommery and climate innovation organization Slow Factory. The annual competition asks entrants "to create miniature models of either a chair in DWR's product assortment or an original design using only the foil, cap, cage and cork from no more than two champagne bottles."
This year there were six winners: First and second in the Most Original category, first and second in the Best Likeness category, a Pommery Prize winner and a Slow Factory Prize winner. Here they are:
Arinna Chair by Alison Brummer
The CHAIRiot by Angelo Czar Manzano
Barcelona Sofa by Ryan Cole
Wassily Chair by Britt Fleury
Sunball Chair by Aspen Vanhooser
Contact Chair by Barbara Pschirer
(*Note: For the Slow Factory Prize, entrants were allowed to incorporate recycled, recovered or found plastic.)
If you'd like to take a crack at the next competition, keep your eyes peeled come December and we'll remind you.
