Unusual Forms: These Cosmetics Storage Cases by Joybos

Makeup organizers with bells and whistles

It's been a long time since I've seen product design forms completely alien to me, but these cosmetics storage cases by Chinese manufacturer Joybos fit the bill.

Organic-looking and made from plastic, these objects seem to have no design predecessor and appear completely subject to designer whimsy. The main design requirements are apparently that they can store cosmetics vessels and implements of various sizes in a dust-proof way, provide visibility to some contents but not others, and occasionally provide a mirror, a handle for portability, an internal or external light and/or USB charging. Some examples:

The price range for these is about $65 to $135. I suspect the real killer is paying for what goes inside.
