"Pushing the limits of locomotion, sensing, and athleticism" is how Boston Dynamics describes their latest iteration of their Atlas robot. Lightweight 3D-printed parts, a custom battery, a compact hydraulic power unit and 28 joints have upgraded it into a freakish parkour machine. Their latest video simply has to be seen to be believed:

Navigating this Mario-Brothers-like course reveals that at a minimum, the Atlas certainly seems qualified to hump materials around on a challenging jobsite. It's not difficult to imagine construction crews where humans do all of the skilled labor while the 'bots do the heavy lifting.
