Most bottles don't change shape when their contents are evacuated. That means that whether you're outgoing or incoming from an overnight trip, your travel bottles take up the same amount of space in your bag.
This is fine for most, but travel gear company Matador offers FlatPak Toiletry Bottles aimed at people for whom every cubic inch counts. Flat when empty, these slim bottle alternatives are made from waterproof, quick-drying welded Cordura nylon, hold 3 ounces (90 mL) and weigh just 0.41 ounces (11.5g).
TSA-approved, the bottles come with write-your-own labels so you know what's what.
They're "five times lighter and 3.5 times more compact than traditional silicontravel bottles of the same volume," the company writes. They also say they've sized the fill openings to a convenient dimension, which makes them possible to fill without a funnel. (For me at least, my success here would be dependent on how much coffee I'd had that morning.)
These run $14 a pop, or $38 for three.

Their flat pak soap bar case is excellent. Great for shampoo bars too.
They also just launched refillable toothpaste tubes that look interesting. Have not tried those yet.
Another interesting product of theirs is the flat pak soap bar case. It intentionally lets moisture out so that the bar inside dries. We took a shampoo bar with us on a long trip instead of liquid shampoo, and the case worked great.
