Power track systems like this Bull Track Socket are more flexible alternatives to conventional power outlets. They're hard-wired into the wall, and on their own, you could mistake one for a magnetic knife rack:
The actual sockets are separate objects that slide into the track. They receive power anywhere along the track, so you can slide them to wherever's convenient.
Furthermore—and this is a really nice touch--the sockets have a subtle dial on the outside that allows you to toggle the power on or off. A small light indicates the power status.
The ones pictured above are made by Bull Group, but this model from competitor Nexen Electric is more or less the same thing. The video shows you how the sockets go in:
