Porsche Design's Conference Speaker with a Twist

You'll want to put the PDS30 into rotation

This PDS30 conference speaker, by Porsche Design, features a nice UI twist.

Literally a twist: In its closed position, the seam between the top and bottom halves is a thin line that circumnavigates the device in an orderly chicane. Twist it, and the top raises slightly as it rotates to reveal four microphones, one at each compass point.

In other words, closed, it's a Bluetooth speaker; open, it's a conference speaker with 360-degree mic coverage.

Comes with a tidy case...

…and a Porsche Design price tag: €/$329.

Why does it need to open / close? Seems like it would just be left open. Its not significantly more compact when closed...
