If only we could see Marcel Breuer's reaction to this. The Chairman, by Shizuoka-based industrial designer Kouichi Okamato, is an extreme take on the suspension-based chair that recalls a distant descendant of the Wassily:

Through the magic of tensegrity, the chair supports itself (and you) using impossibly thin stainless steel rods, nylon webbing and cotton canvas.

If you had to draw little red arrows on the image above to show which way the forces were going, you'd be there all day.
