Amsterdam-based designer Jair Straschnow designed this Flip Chair, which quickly converts from dining to easy configuration:
"The final version is milled out of a single material (european birch ply) and has a locking mechanism that makes use of the material's inherent flexibility," Straschnow writes. "It was developed in collaboration with Amsterdam's fiction factory, who is also producing it."
Straschnow, who has a very quirky sense of humor, has documented the development process of the chair in the video below. It is fascinating, and the locking mechanism proves a very clever exploitation of material properties:
