German lawn equipment manufacturer Stiga has a push-mower handlebar called the Fulcrum that looks, well, overengineered:
That's because it performs a couple of neat tricks. It's of course height-adjustable, but can also be made to tilt to the side for when you're mowing right up against something. It also can be pivoted in towards the deck, greatly reducing the storage space required.

Just side step and slide your hands over on the handle when something overhangs the mower. This doesn't address low hanging branches. Oh yeah, we can just duck and walk under those.
