  Another thought;  what does the retail store do with the other half of the box while the shoe is on display?  Once it's used as display the box seems to no longer function as a way to carry the shoe home now that it's ripped in half and has no lid.  Also the  built-in carrying handle seems to be thrown away once the box is used for display so that seems like a flaw in the design.

  I'd like to see Core77 research these designs that they feature a bit more before posting them.

    

   -This design claims to use less material than a standard shoe box but shows no data to back this up.  I can almost guarantee this 2-part design uses more material than a 1-piece box.  A 2-piece box likely uses MORE energy to make and assemble compared to the auto-assembled current box design.

  
  

  -This design claims to be smaller than a standard shoe box but again, zero data to back up this point.  Putting the shoes sole-to-sole will almost always take up MORE space in the box than a current shoe box where they are nested so I'm not sure how they think this is going to save space.....

  
  

  -A large hole in a shoe box will create a lot of dirt and dust issues so I'm not sure why that feature is included other than to see the color of the shoe inside?

  
  

  It would be great to see some data to back up any of the claims this design is making....
