Italian styling house Pininfarina is expanding their transportation design wheelhouse to include "micro-mobility." The company has partnered up with Helbiz, an Italy-based company that produces eco-friendly scooters, e-bikes and mopeds for app-based rental in cities in the U.S. and Europe. While there's nothing wrong with the design of Helbiz's current fleet…
…they've decided to revamp them, which is where Pininfarina comes in. Thus far there's only a darkened teaser rendering of their new scooter design, which is slated to go into production by manufacturer MT Distribution.
Adjusted for visibility:
"Pininfarina, which operates in the most varied areas of design and is a leader in projects designed for environmental sustainability, is particularly sensitive to trends in urban mobility," says Giuseppe Bonollo, Pininfarina's SVP of Sales & Marketing. "This is why we are thrilled to be able to propose together with Helbiz and MT a new way of moving that safeguards the environment and makes cities more human-friendly, basing it on high-tech and high-quality solutions."
The Pininfarina-designed Helbiz scooters will first be incorporated into the company's sharing programs, but will eventually be offered for retail sale. And following the scooter design, "a dedicated engineering and development team shared by the three companies [will] then continue with electric bicycles and electric mopeds," Helbiz said in a statement. The designs for all three will be officially unveiled later this year.

I can't look past the stitched surface you are supposed to stand on... I'm assuming that's leather? Feels like a lot of extra decorative lines with no actual purpose.
