Commissioned by owner Young J Song, product designer Sam Buxton, in collaboration with textile designer Emily Hiller, has knitted a new-look interior for the Bordello Bar in London's Soho.

Buxton's designs run through the bar's two main rooms, entrance area and stairs, the walls of which are covered with red curtains of hand-tied netting. According to the designer, the seating and lighting were integrated to make it appear as though the interior is constructed from a single surface. Together, the wall hangings and a sculptural installation in the bar's main room contain 2.5km of knitted, hand-knotted and woven cord.

One of the rooms feature woven fabric that has been laid over wire to create sinuous, tree-like shapes. Set off against Sam's signature metal sheeting style is the bar's serving area, which displays liquor bottles held in net sacks, whilst steel cabling creates a subtle yet bold tunnel for serving trays.

The concept design by Sam Buxton with fabrication of the patterns, solutions and details for the walls, lights and bottle rack system by textile designer Emily Hiller. Buxton intends to create more installations in the bar in the future, this work primarily exploring ways of creating an environment from a single structure.
