Shizuoka City, Japan refers to themselves as a "model city," and they mean that literally: They're home to Tamiya, Bandai, Aoshima and other companies that manufacture plastic scale model kits, producing "about 80% of the plastic models shipped nationwide."
That being the case, the city's current revitalization program pays homage to the local industry by creating "Plastic monuments" for public spaces:
