Last week the Sheriff's Office in Catawba County, North Carolina executed a search warrant on a residence suspected of housing illegal narcotics. In addition to finding and seizing cocaine, mushrooms, marijuana and cash, investigators also uncovered this cache of 20 firearms:
What's notable is that the four on the right have been painted to resemble toys:
In the photo above, see the blue thing with the orange stripe just above the shotgun? Turns out that's a 50-round drum magazine. In the photos below, the drum is absent but you can see the associated Glock and parts of the original Nerf toy it's been painted to blend together with:
"One of these weapons, a converted Glock model 19 pistol with a fifty round drum magazine, had been altered to resemble a toy Nerf gun," the Catawba Sheriff's Office wrote in a statement. "Firearms of this type, while not illegal to possess, are concerning to law enforcement."

I'm honestly not sure if it makes it better or worse, but the only thing "nerf" about the upper bit on the handgun is the logo. It's a real deal handgun conversion kit made by a company called CAA.
