With the release of their Camera Raw v13.2 update, Adobe has added a new feature called Super Resolution. By using "an advanced machine learning model trained on millions of photos," the company writes, Super Resolution can effectively double the resolution of a photograph, "maintaining clean edges and preserving important details." Here's Adobe's Digital Imaging Evangelist Director Julieanne Kost giving a demonstration:

While Adobe says the feature is new, it's actually at least three years old. As proof, here's footage of Rick Deckard, a former member of the Los Angeles Police Department, using the technology all the way back in 2019:

Of course, what really made the software special in Blade Runner was that the photos had 3D spatial characteristics. That and making a hard copy via Polaroid print tech! 😉
