An Israeli company called Rav Hevel addresses this with their Easy Clothesline. It captures ten individual clothesline loops within tracks along the side, enabling you to do this:

Interestingly, this object was designed by a guy named Lavi Moshe-Shiko, who started out installing window-mount air conditioners, then got the idea of using his installation skills for laundry applications.
