The worst part about working on a motor vehicle is the amount of parts you need to detach or disassemble just to create room to get a wrench in there. To solve this problem, Maryland-based tool company GearWrench developed this Gimbal Ratchet for getting into tight spaces:
As the gimbal moniker suggests, the handle can swivel, allowing you to apply force at an angle:
The $14 tool comes in both 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive variants and has rave reviews on Amazon.

As the owner of a VW, I've never wanted a tool this bad before! Thanks!
This seems to be similar in principle to the old GM Goodwrench "swiveldrive" ratchet. I've had a "swiveldrive" for many years, but I never use it as I don't find it better than a swivel-head or offset-head ratchet, or a wobble socket, for those hard-to-reach bolts. I would have thought there'd be even less need for a swivel drive on a thumbwheel ratchet.
$30 Canadian and the exchange rate is at $.80 to the dollar...what the heck!?!?!
GearWrench is Apex Tool Group. They have domestic made tools, but even their Chinese tools are help to a higher standard, at least according to the Apex rep I deal with. so it should be a really good tool.
