If you're thinking about grad school and have decided not to put your dreams "on hold"—SVA's MFA in Products of Design is holding 3 virtual open house events this fall, each featuring projects, alumni, students, and a faculty panel concentrating on a particular convergence in the department's curriculum. And the second event is tonight, December 9th!
"Session 2: Design for Social Value: Reconciling Business & Justice"—tonight at 7pm EST—focuses in on the frameworks and structures around design for social impact, social justice, equity, business and power. Hosted and moderated by Core77 fave Jennifer Rittner, the session is bound to be both informative and provocative.
The department's strength has always been "training multi-lingual designers"—its curriculum spans everything from ID and UX/UI to social innovation design, public policy design, business design, disability studies, business management and more—so splitting up the Open House events into 3 evenings will give each area a bit more focus. Here's the lineup:
Open House #1: November 11, 2020 Product Design: Negotiating the Physical and the Digital [Watch the videohere]
Open House #2: December 9, 2020 Design for Social Value: Navigating Business and Justice [RSVP Here]
Open House #3: January 11, 2020 The Actualized Designer: Between the Personal and the Professional [RSVP Here]
You can go ahead and RSVP for the next two sessions of course, and find out tons more about the program at their site. (Check out their manifesto on the homepage.) Apply page is here!
