If you've watched Part 2 of this series, you've hopefully noticed that when you're black in America, a seemingly simple question can elicit a multifaceted answer filled with information that might surprise a non-person-of-color. Here in Part 3, the jumping-off point is "At design school, did you ever bring up the topic of diversity to your professors?"

In answering, designers Spencer Nugent, Jasmine Kent and Kevin Bethune, hosted by design professor Hector Silva, touch on everything from what Dieter Rams' 10 Principles for Good Design mean today, to code shifting, to overcoming discouragement from the very people meant to encourage you, to widening the scope of design research.

You might think these 10- or 15-minute videos are too long for you to watch right now, that you've got other stuff that's more important. But if you're curious about the experience of black designers or the human condition in general, I guarantee you will benefit by hearing even a few moments of this discussion.
