The 7th International Corporate Identity Conference
May 7-10, 1995, Montreal, Quebec
"Connecting Corporate Strategy with Brand Strategy"

(Boston, MA, February 14, 1995)--The Design Management Institute (DMI) will hold its 7th International Corporate Identity Conference, "Connecting Corporate Strategy with Brand Strategy," on May 7-10, 1995 at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Attendees will learn answers to these questions and more:

According to the President of the Institute, Earl N. Powell, "The complexities of global competition, information saturation, and rapid change are making it imperative that a company's vision and resources be sharply focused. Loyal customers and stakeholders are increasingly difficult to develop and retain. These factors make extremely critical the manner in which a company shapes and manages all the messages customers and stakeholders receive through products, communications, environments, and behaviors. These are the important issues which this conference will examine."

Three seasoned experts will cochair the conference. They have helped to establish the theme, develop the content, as well as work with the speakers. Here are some of their guiding thoughts:

  • LEE GREEN (Manager of Corporate Identity and Design, International Business Machines): "At IBM, one of our biggest challenges is making sure we engage people the right way and at all levels. I am looking forward to hearing the speakers and the participants discuss these issues."

  • LINDA KEEFE (Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Design, Yamamoto Moss): "We find that often there can be dangerous disconnects among corporate strategies, marketing strategies, and design strategies. We all need to develop and share more effective methods to address this. This will be a key component of the conference."

  • JEAN BOUCHENOIRE (Director, Public Affairs-Branding and Design Management, Bell Canada): "At Bell Canada, our nomenclature and visual identity systems are designed to make it easy for customers to recognize Bell instantly in everything that represents our company, from phone booths to business cards. But of course, this is a long and winding road from theory to practice... This conference provides me with a unique opportunity to discuss broad issues with colleagues. The benefits of such an event extend well beyond the conference itself, as the networking process leads to continuing exchanges on topics of mutual interests."
