NEW MAILBOXES AT DMI!
We now have two new mailboxes for communicating with DMI.
February 6 was the first day for Maryann Finiw as the Institute's first vice president. After an eight-month search we are all excited to have her join us. David Feigenbaum, Chair of the Board of Directors stated, "We believe we found an excellent match in Maryann's background and experience to meet the current needs and future of the Institute. All the board members believe the Institute is poised for significant growth and will be looking to Maryann to provide the important operations management necessary to make that happen."
Earl Powell, President of the Institute, added, "Maryann's talents range from being able to understand and empathize with strategic success issues for the design manager, to understanding how these can work in the business context to the articulation of their implications for design management education. The scope of her abilities will help us move forward on many fronts."
Maryann is a familiar face to the staff and many of you have met her at past annual conferences or through her article, "Design BenchMarks", in the Fall, 1992 issue of the Design Management Journal or her seminal research in the Institute's special report, Best Practices: Analytical Framework for Design Management & Comparative Analysis of Design Management Institute Case Studies. (see above for details). This work was done when she was a research associate at the Institute during the summer of 1992 midway through her studies at the Harvard Business School. After completing her MBA she went to work for Integral, a leading management consulting firm.
Prior to pursuing her MBA, Maryann had a decade of design experience in product design, corporate identity and retail design. Most recently as Senior Product Development Manager at The Child Growth and Development Corporation in New York, a research and design consulting firm specializing in products for children and families. She graduated at the top of her industrial design class at Pratt in 1983.
Please join us in welcoming Maryann back to the Institute!
