The ESPIRE full face gas mask was created for professional varnishers and engineers. The filter is located at the top of the mask, uncovering the transparent mouth section.
Air flow is now guided in a linear stream from the top of the mask to the outlet valve located at the chin. A divider between viewing and mouth section makes sure the visor's viewing area stays free from fog.
With this arrangement, the air flow is not only optimized, but the aesthetics and the archetype of a respirator are completely changed. The fully transparent front increases communication ability, comfort and acceptance for the user.
Carlos Schreib
Full face gas masks' component arrangement has not been changed for decades. They consist of a small visor, an inner mask and an outer mask to keep exhaled air from the visor to prevent fogging. Both the filter and the outlet valve are always at the bottom of the mask. Additionally they always have a complicated strap system, to keep them in position on the head. Many users avoid using them whilst working, which is a real health risk. So, questioning these circumstances and creating something more user-orientated was long overdue. The ESPIRE full face gas mask was created for professional painters and varnishers who use masks daily.
ESPIRE's spin-on filter is located at the top of the mask and thereby frees the user's face with a transparent mouth section. Air flow is guided in a linear stream from the top of the mask, where the air first interacts with the visor to keep it free from fog. The air then flows through a valve in a divider between the viewing and mouth area. The divider assures that there is no trade-off in functionality. Afterwards, the air is exhaled through the outlet valve located at the chin, thus insuring no exhaled air comes into contact with the visor's viewing area.
This arrangement optimizes the air flow and drastically changes the aesthetics and the archetypal design of a respirator. The fully transparent front and compact design increases not only comfort and acceptance for the user, but also non-verbal communication ability, especially in noisy work environments. Additionally, the decreased volume of the mask reduces the risk of accidentally lifting the mask from the user's face.

Dear Carlos
esperamos que pronto este en el mercado
This mask needs to be in mass produced on a global scale, YESTERDAY !!!!! Where is this Carlos Schreib? What is the status of the design? Has anyone brought this to the attention of any heads of state? Does someone need to hand this info to a major news network to get it the attention it needs? WHAT IS THE F'IN HOLD UP HERE?!?!?!?!?!
Podríamos indicar cómo hago para adquirir esta máscara y qué costo tiene, muchas gracias
The mask is 100% useless if you can't buy it.. I have found nowhere on this site or any other site that offers this product for sale.. Only that they are selling them not where to buy or how .. This website could be improved with a simple link Including pricing and pay pal.. This guy probably would've Have made millions of dollars off this product by now had there been an easy way to purchase This mask.. So I guess I'm on to the next Company that has a comparable mask for sale..
Cómo la puedo comprar
siuen día, soy coordinadora hseq, y tratamos de luchar contra el covid-19 en nuestra empresa, me podrían indicar por favor como hago para adquirir esta mácara. muchas gracias y qué costo tiene.
I’m a doctor fighting covid 19, where can I buy this mask, please let me know thanks
Hello Carlos,
Brilliant design, great for woodworking and woodturning.
How do I get one I want one so bad?????
Hey guys! Thanks first of all for the lovely feedback! It's amazing to see that this project obviously still creates interest. However, the project has not been further developed as of now, I'm afraid. I would be amazed to see this come to life and I maybe someday the time is right, but at the moment I don't see many chances without involving a big private investment. But as I said, I really appreciate each comment and be sure that if it ever launches, you'd be the first to know! Best regards from icy Berlin
Carlos Schreib, Love the concept idea here, the full mask with forehead mounted filter. Very original Sir! Have you begun production on the mask yet? And is there a way i can contact you other than here?
Hi Where can i buy Espire ?
So is this mask ever going to be available to the public? Hands down one of the best ideas I've seen in my lifetime
I love the idea, especially if you could use it as a welding helmet too. Like an autodarkening solar feature. With adjustable darkness.
I'm ready when they're available
Sir, we are interested in distribute the Espire mask in our country. How can I contact you for this purpose.
Such a great concept!!! Would be faster with a quick attach (velcro or turning knob...). Whenever it's ready for market, I'm buying your product. Can't wait.
Love the concept. Would be great if a autodarkening welding lens could be integrated. Would open up a whole new market for this.
I am a Registered Nurse. I would love to see if the filters could also be used for patients in isolation example influenza, TB and other respiratory infections. THIS COULD HAVE A PROFOUND IMPACT IN HEALTH CARE. 😊
Has this mask been made for release yet. It is perfect for many industries and as I cover a multitude of industries then it is definitely one for my tools kit.
This seems absolutely amazing. For me, I use a regular 3M half face respirator with filters hanging off of the sides and it's not the most comfortable. This design seems so much more efficient and safe as well. I use respirators when I work on my cars whether it's paints, detailing/cleaning products, or degreasers which are the the worst. To have a design like yours with incorporated eye protection and a low profile design seems very beneficial! Will definitely be following this, good luck with getting them produced, looking forward to it!
This is an awesome design. Do you have any physical copies that aren't working yet? I would be interested in one for a futuristic short film. It would be used as a prop, so I wouldn't need a working version!
Thanks Clint! Actually Id love to see my concept in a nice futuristic short film! Unfortunately there is no flexible prototype yet. Only a design model that is not mate for usage! This might change some time next year hopefully! Id let you know for sure!
Love this concept - I would be extremely interested in this if you could get it built and produced.
Have you talked to anyone other than 3M?
Thanks for the comments! Alex: I really want to produce a working prototype and test it. For now, it is a concept with 3 months of work in it. The next part with engineering would probably need another 1-2 years of development. I cant provide this, as I am a industrial design student and not a manufacturer. I contacted 3M but big companies are rarely very cooperative in such things. But, this is not the end of the story I hope! :)
I love the concept of this product. I would love to use it in the future. There are groups out there that specialize in moving products from after concept to prototype and production. In my area there is chesnut innovation center in Amesbury ma. I'm sure there is others too. Hope this helps
I love the design, but I only care about the respirator's performance. If 3M produced this and tested it, inwouldnpay double what a current mask costs. But, the functionality is really 100% of this product and design is only "nice to have"
I like the concept especially because you can see the mouth of the wearer. Visibility of lips is often a key part in speech comprehension.
