Of course, we wouldn't need third-party objects like this if the original manufacturers would actually consider how their products are used.

What makes you think manufacturers are inclined to find a solution? If 70% of users discard the bottle with 5-10% of product inside, they will need to replace the bottle sooner.
Believing that the manufacturers of these products do not consider how they are used is extremely naive, bordering on ignorant. I obviously can't speak for all FMCG companies but the company I work for consider the end user experience heavily throughout the product development process as well as the environmental impact of any packaging & product decisions that we make.
I agree that the pump is a better solution, but they stated in the video that this cap was to be installed once the pump no longer worked.
