When Kvadrat announced their partnership with adidas for a pack of Stan Smiths inspired by Copenhagen, I figured they'd just be sneakers with beautiful fabric slapped on them. I was wrong. While we don't have any cool process images for you, and it doesn't appear any revolutionary techniques were used in manufacturing, we're writing about these with pure admiration for a collaboration gone right.
The sneakers are constructed from Kvadrat's Squares collection by Vibeke Rohland in 3 colorways: Navy, Pink and Core Black. For whatever reason, we're leaning towards Core Black.
The carefully placed side stitching details are key in making the sneakers truly feel like a 50/50 collaboration between Kvadrat and adidas.
The Stan Smith isn't a new silhouette by any means. In fact, in recent years, there have been many iterations of the classic sneaker. However, Kvadrat successfully gave it the fresh face it deserves, which goes to show sometimes it takes a company outside of the fashion industry to mix things up a bit.
The Kvadrat x adidas Stan Smiths will be available for purchase July 6th.
