Industrial designer Bruce Thomson is a man "[obsessed] with the visual archiving of automobilia through sketching, illustration and painting." He's also on an epic quest to buy a sweet vintage car—make and model TBD—and has created the Kicking Vintage Tyres blog to combine these two things.
In a word, the site is awesome. As Thomson chases down one lead after another, showing up at car dealerships and people's driveways, he sketches the car in question.
The man's eyes are clearly sharp: He calls out key features as well as the numerous flaws he spots, and often slaps some brilliantly economical strokes of color onto the sketch—not a full-blown rendering, but just enough to let your mind fill in the blanks.
The result is a well-documented archive of vintage cars for sale in the greater Toronto area. I hate to say this, but I almost hope he never finds one to buy, because I want this blog to keep going!
