We previously looked at the Gorilla Gripper and the Handle on Demand, two portable solutions for hauling heavy sheet goods. From Germany's Zieker Innovationen comes an equally portable, but arguably easier to use solution: Push rather than carry.
Zieker's Platten-Klemm-Wagen ("Plate Clamping Trolley") works like a more gentle bear trap, where pressure in the center causes the sides to fold in and clamp the material securely. Then it's just a matter of rolling the stuff from your truck to your shop or the jobsite. You've got your choice of tires—solid rubber, inflated rubber, polyurethane, or two types of polyamide—depending on what surface you're rolling over. And if you go with the inflated, it will inflict less damage when you passive-aggressively roll the thing over your client's foot "by accident."
For situations requiring more delicate clamping, Zieker offers this handy Platten-Lenk-Wagen (plate material) variant.
It is better than the standard two-men-on-either-end method of carrying plate glass, a situation that always seems to end with a motorcyclist crashing through it during a police pursuit.
