Wesley Souza's Syringe-Based Hydraulic Excavator Model

If only there were, for every kid glued to an XBox, another kid like Wesley Souza. After observing how an escavadeira (excavator) works, the Brazilian teen replicated the hydraulic mechanisms using syringes and plastic tubing; with a little help from family member Lidio, he even carved up some wood scraps to create a working scale model.

Souza, who lives in the central Brazilian state of Tocantins, clearly has a future in engineering or design. But for now he works for Desempregados, an activist organization dedicated to helping the unemployed make ends meet.

While they obviously don't celebrate the holiday in Brazil, this Thanksgiving I'll be thankful our planet contains kids like Souza.

Sorry to burst anyones bubble, but this isn't exactly news...
www.kidder.ca has them as kits and a quick search shows you "hundreds" of these homemade excavators.
But I don't know the story behind this particular excavator so he could be the original... ;-)

Is Wesley Souza studying? Where does he live in Tocantins? How can I connect him or his Family? How old is he?
Maybe I could help if I could know more of his mindset, education, Family, etc.
I live in Brasil and have some contacts in Tocantins State.
