Clearly a better sink trap design

PermaFLOW is one of those "Why the heck didn't someone think of this sooner" products, and as a guy who has recently had to snake his sink line, I desperately covet one of these award-winning sink traps.

First off, the thing is transparent, so you can see where the clog is instead of staring at your sweaty, aggravated, warped reflection on a chrome trap. Second, there's a knob on the outside that turns a wiper on the inside, so you can clear clogs without having to get in there or snag that stuck piece of jewelry. And turning the knob to a particular position can also enable water to flow through the normally unusued upper part of the trap as an emergency measure.

The PermaFLOW just won Platinum at the 2009 Awards for Design Excellence, which is sponsored by Design Journal. But you can be darn sure your plumber doesn't want you to hear about this one.

i'm not a plumber and I know that hair will screw up the moving part. The problem is with all things with moving parts - they break faster.

Then because you guys are in USA, the likelihood of someone trying a drain cleaner and then wondering why their kitchen is flooded.. and then went on to sue people. It would be a hilarious thing.

You probably would be much better off adopting the 'filter' design of common dishwashers, than dealing with something like this.

This trap doesn't come close to meeting building code in any part of north america and is not approved by CSA, ASTM or UPL. I'm betting the sweeping action will get wound with hair and eventually fail as well.

It seems neither of you actually know what a trap is. It is used under a sink drain to "trap" a small amount of water to create a seal against sewer gasses. Not to trap pests...

Well,insects and cockroaches will surely attracted to go inside but didn't know it's a trap.Looks good for being transparent,it's neat and very useful at home.

Most traps will not eliminate all the roaches at once. The few straying insects you leave are likely to reproduce again, and cause you the same disgrace in no time.
