Ghata Project by Rabih Shibli for Design and Flow This multifunctional structure for refugees is designed for portability, adaptability, scalability, economic efficiencey and endurance and was installed in the courtyard of Wanted Design Brooklyn. Paper Chair by Studio Jeroen Wand By laminating multiple layers of paper together, the material becomes structural. This chair is made entirely of paper and if you look closely, through use the chair begins to acquire the kind of wear and tear (slight stains, creases) reminiscent of a favorite book. Phases by Studio Jeroen Wand These multi-layered vessels are created by dipping an original form in different mixtures of liquid plaster. This covers the exterior of the vessel in multiple layers of varying textures and colors, while the inner form remains clean and regular. Core77 20 of 40

Space by Ward Wijnant When this light is turned off, the surface functions as a warped mirror, reflecting the space it's in. When the light is turned on, it's silver surface turns translucent and illuminates with a slightly psychedelic effect. Core77 21 of 40

Maintain a Stain by Lizan Freijsen Fascinated by the many forms of decay—the patterns of mold, moisture stains, rotten food, etc.—Freijsen transforms the visual language of such "ugly" things into beautiful, intricate textiles. Core77 23 of 40

Medallions by Carina Wagenaar Wagenaar uses everyday materials and found objects to create visual stories packed with symbolism. Captured in large, life-size medallions the works nod to the aesthetics of vintage cameo rings. Core77 24 of 40

Mudéjar and Between Two Rivers by Siba Sahabi Sahabi is focused on highlighting the shared histroy of Europe and the Middle East through works that meld the traditional forms into a hybrid, contemporary expression. The Mudéjar room divider, cast in resin, is inspired by Moorish architecture and a modular triangular unit. She reinterprets traditional turned pottery techniques in her Between Two Rivers series of vessels made of layered felt strips. Core77 25 of 40

Al-Andalus by Siba Sahabi Chess is one of the world's most popular games and one of the oldest board games, believed to have originated in India. In 1971, Robert Zubrin invented a new variation of the game, which can be played by three parties. With this triangular chess set based on Zubrin's game for 3 players and inspired by Moorish geometric patterns, Siba refers to the history of a game which has evolved through the interweaving of Eastern and Western influences. Femme Chair by Studio Rik ten Velden Inspired by traditional maritime knotting techniques he learned from craftsmen in Rotterdam, ten Velden created this intricate chair out of a single rope. Core77 27 of 40

Rhythm of Light by Susanne de Graef These fragile lamps are inspired by the shape of 19th century hoop skirts. The structural hoops are placed in a mold that keeps them level, then de Graef painstakingly suspends strings between them. The series is evolving to use various color gradients. Core77 28 of 40

Core by Runa Klock Part of A Few Good Things, this table lamp is made from Lundhs Blue stone (native to Norway) and features hidden LED lights that transform a cold material into a warm household object. Core77 31 of 40

Ami Rocker by Nursery Works This ergonomic rocker is the latest release from Nursery Works, featuring an easy drop and tie conversion process that transforms the Ami into a double seat rocker. Core77 32 of 40

406 Play Set by Wintercheck Factory for kinder MODERN This matching 3-piece table and chair set is made from solid yellow pine and topped with a thick slab of industrial polyurethane rubber—a child-friendly surface that encourages play and experimentation without the fear of damage. Display of work by Dear Human The Montreal-based studio focuses on craft traditions, sustainable practices and unconventional material reuse. The milking stool (shown on the left) draws on traditional three-legged stools they encountered at an ethnographic museum in Belgrade. Display of work by ITZ The Mexico-based studio works only with various endemic, tropical hardwood species from southeast Mexico. Their focus on sustainability, craft and detail creates a line of elegant pieces that each bring out the natural characteristics of wood. Core77 36 of 40

Ripples by Toyo Ito Italian design brand Horm works with world-renowned architects and designers to produce a collection of essential objects for the home. This bench (Ito also made a dining table and stool set in the same series) is carved out of a multilayer structure made of five distinct solid woods: walnut, mahogany, cherry, oak and ash. Steven Haulenbeek This year's American Design Honors recipient (an award honoring the work of a young American designer/entrepreneur) at WantedDesign is Chicago-based designer Steven Haulenbeek. The experimental, interdisciplinary work of his studio is showcased through old and new projects, including his Ice Cast Bronze work—a unique process he developed that carves bronze using ice molds—alongside more recent work in resin. Sarj by Mariem Besbes The Tunisian designer draws on ancestral techniques of weaving and knotting and the form of nomadic horse's saddles from North Africa to create this series of seats. Core77 39 of 40

French Touch by Joogii This chair is inspired by 90's French house music and artist like Daft Punk, Cassius and Etienne de Crecy. The LA-based studio makes the chair out of dichroic film applied to CNC-cut acrylic connected through steel bolts. Core77 40 of 40

WantedDesign is a unique destination during NYCxDesign in two parts with one location in Manhattan's west side and a second location in Brooklyn's industrial Sunset Park, focused on providing a platform for emerging designers, student work and dedicated to highlighting the global design community through a series of curated international pavilions which this year included Argentina, Mexico, Norway, France, Tunisia, New Zealand, Colombia, Poland and the Netherlands. A common thread of attention to craft and collaboration brings together the diverse exhibitors.

At WantedBrooklyn, we were excited to see the results of WantedDesign's annual Design Schools Workshop—sponsored by Core77 and judged by our very own Allan Chochinov—featuring the work of 27 international students. At WantedManhattan this year, the spotlight was on Chicago-based designer Steven Haulenbeek who won the second American Design Honors award for his beautiful, interdisciplinary work.
