Fungy! by Roos Soetekouw Taking images of fungus spores, Soetekouw created a colorful collection of placemats, towels and tablerunners. LinYee Yuan 26 of 54

Hydria water pitcher and filter by Brook Sigal Terracotta pitchers breathe and perspire to keep water 1-2 degrees cooler than the ambient temperature. The porous ceramic filters are created with clays identified by the designer for different taste qualities and can extract chlorine and heavy metals. LinYee Yuan 27 of 54

Boring Collection by Lensvelt Lensvelt's Boring collection of everyday office furniture was shown with an unexpected twist—visitors were encouraged to crumple up a paper manifesto of sorts and throw it into the sea of paper balls and chaos that made up the scenography. Aoomi Design Studio Textiles and Ceramics in a black and white gradation, beautifully handcrafted by artisans in collaboration with the design studio. LinYee Yuan 46 of 54

Ippe by Riku Toivonen The collection of nine emerging designers in the "No Sauna" show wanted to challenge cultural conventions of Finnish design by showing conceptual projects. Ippe is a chubby, travel-loving character from Finnish folklore. This piece allows users to unfurl the base into a sleeping pad or enjoy a soft seat on-the-go. 47 of 54

Nomadic Feast by Studio Tinkah The Dubai-based multidisciplinary designers of Tinkah reconsiders the traditional Emirati-way of gathering large families on a woven mat and sharing a meal together. In the Ventura Lambrate district of Milan, material explorations and experiments at the intersection of craft and technology were on show. Packed into the warehouses, abandoned garages and galleries of the district were over 160 exhibitions from emerging designers and independent design galleries. Craft reigned supreme in Lambrate but young designers are challenging the very definition of handmade employing new technology, machine processes and manmade materials in new and unexpected ways.
