Instant gratification with the push of a button, mindless disposability, and automated culinary delight--what's not to like? This clip from a 1967 Philco-Ford Corporation film, "1999 A.D.," portrays the futuristic vision of kitchen culture that we have yet to see (at least in this exact portrayal). We do see a couple things we can relate to though: Video conferencing on flat panels and some sweet mid-century pieces that would still look smokin' hot in our apartments.

notice the pots and pans hanging on the wall in the closing frames, just as the narrator describes how the microwave oven will take care of everything with a "few seconds of thawing or warming." I guess those antiquated implements are for decor only...
