Wearable Technology has Targeted the Eyes, Ears, Wrists. Next: Fingers?

One can't help but notice all of the experimentation going on in the wearable devices field. Nothing has gained ubiquitous traction, but that's not for lack of trying; the field includes Google Glass, Nike's Fuelband (R.I.P.), Jawbone's Up, a variety of bluetooth earpieces, Samsung's Galaxy Gear Smartwatch, and whatever Apple's forthcoming iWatch will be, to name a few.

There is of course a real estate issue with the human body, as there's only so many places you can park a device. With the eyes, ears, and wrists already being targeted, industrial design firm Whipsaw (like Autodesk before them) is looking to the fingers. Their Nod device is a touchless gesture control device meant to be worn as a ring:

The device works with smartphones, tablets, computers, the Nest thermostat, those fancy WiFi enabled light bulbs, "and more," according to Whipsaw; we're guessing that "and more" includes game consoles, as they mention you can wear two Nods at once, to simultaneously move around and shoot while playing games. And interestingly enough, to get around the different-finger-sizes issue, the company is offering them in 12 different sizes.

Whipsaw is currently taking pre-orders, and the $149 devices are expected to begin shipping in Fall of this year.

Judging from the demonstration video, it looks like this will be a disappointment similar to the leap motion...
