There were no shortage of smart watches at CES this year, but PEBBLE seemed to be the only maker who evolved the industrial design of the smart watch beyond a mini smartphone stuck on your wrist. It was only a matter of time before these devices moved from the literal semantic play of a mini smartphone with a strap to a mass adoption state that aligned with fashion trend. Cheers to PEBBLE for getting there first. Innovation is only innovative if it is put into a form that engages culture to adopt it. Otherwise it is just one more good idea that gets sidelined until someone else picks it up the way Apple relaunched the MP3 player and recast it in the form of an old transistor radio. By next CES, I predict a version of Google glass that looks like a classic pair of Ray-Bans.
