The Deafinite Style is a concept from Munich-based Designaffairs STUDIO that turns a hearing aid into a piece of jewelry, provided you're up for a bit of lobe stretching to get started. The main advantage they propose (aside from an instant hipster-grunge-punk look) is the opportunity to embed the TriMic System -- a highly effective directional microphone system made from 3 individual microphones -- into the plug, helping people who suffer from severe hearing loss.

This is a brilliant way to reach out to the next generation of hearing loss patients. My ears have been gauged since highschool, and I'd wear these even when I reach 72 years old.
I, myself, don't know the difference between the technology for the deaf and hard of hearing and the technology for Bluetooth and headsets. I wouldn't ignore these hipsters, though, it seems pretty feasible, and could very well fund the research to make the hearing aide jewelry a reality.
Have you checked out kickstarter.com to get this project going? If you don't' soon, I will XD.
