My first thought was, maybe you've just spent six months living on a sailboat and now you're having trouble falling asleep on terra firma. Whatever the rationale, Atlanta-based designer Joe Manus has produced the Mood Rocking Bed as part of his company Shiner's made in the U.S.A. product line-up, which encompasses beds, chairs, tables and lighting. "Joe applies the manufacturing techniques and brutal aesthetic that earned his reputation for high-end boutiques and nightclubs in Atlanta to his first collection of modern, eco-friendly furnishings," says a company description.
Shiner's desks and tables have provisions for hanging magazines; they have a series of lamps and chandeliers made from cardboard; their CNC'd chairs and barstools show plywood layering to great effect. And best of all, their raw materials come from waste. "Everything from our steel, hardwoods and cardboard to our lexan and linen is diverted from the incinerator," the company points out.
Check out their full line-up, with a particularly deep chair and lamp section, here.
