The traditional English way to saw wood is like this (on the push stroke):

The traditional Japanese way to saw wood is like this (on the pull stroke):

While you can say the methods are opposite, they're both done from a standing position, and both ID school and common sense told me that was the only way to go. But Woodworking Magazine just posted a video of this crazy method people have been using for years in France, Germany, and other countries:

I think I'm not comfortable with that one.
