When it comes to travel they say there are those who overpack and those who underpack, but I often veer between the two, overcompensating for errors I made on the last trip. Do I need both cameras? Can I survive with just the trackpad? Or do I have to pack a mouse and freaking mousepad because the typically glass-topped hotel desk will be too shiny for my mouse to pick up?
One item I've learned I absolutely cannot live without is this World Travel Adapter I picked up in Sweden, though it's actually by Swiss manufacturer Skross.
Prior to owning one of these I had to go into my "travel toolbox" and dig through a Lego-like series of adapters I thought I'd need, which is a pain on backpacking trips where you're not sure which countries you'll be in. The Skross here covers about 150 countries.
The design is at least several years old, but I now see the company is up to the World Travel Adapter 3, which comes in Swiss identity colors and has just scooped up a Red Dot Design Award.
It'll even handle a hair dryer without frying up--I learned the hard way that your standard Radio Shack travel adapter will not. I just wish it came with the USB adapter featured on the WTA 2, below.

Of course they sell it in Germany without stating that. I am quite pissed...
