Yesterday's post on the Pickmaster generated a ton of traffic, so apparently Core77's got a latent guitar-playing readership. Two of you were quick to point out that a nearly identical device called the Pick Punch has been in production since 2009, produced by a guy named Von Luhmann.
A few key differences are that the UK-based Pickmaster goes for $32 and is currently out of stock. Luhmann's Pick Punch, coming from Indiana, goes for $25 and is available now.
Luhmann could use some help in the marketing department—the Pick Punch's photographs are ill-lit point-and-shoots, as you can see above, and his news coverage was shot by someone pointing a handheld camera at a television screen—but his site's shortcomings are not for lack of trying: Seeking to provide a one-stop shopping experience, Luhmann sells sheet materials like nylon, acetal, polycarbonate and Ultem to make your picks from, and he's also posted an extensive series of photo and video tutorials for how to embed images on your picks.
