NY Times newsroom's iPhone booth

One of the funniest, yet saddest things we read in the Times article "Creative Solutions to iPhone Service Woes" is the following:

In the business news section of the New York Times newsroom, there is one area near the window where iPhone calls are usually clear. That spot happens to be next to David Gallagher, one of my editors. Not coincidentally, he has come up with the idea for an iPhone booth that would give callers in the sweet spot some privacy--and keep their conversations from disturbing others.

Yes, in AT&T's incapable hands (the URL for the link above has the words "ATT FAIL" in them), the miracle phone of the 21st century now occasionally has less mobility than the 15' cord we had on the landline twenty years ago.
