This week saw the launch of Awa, a new furniture line by Japan-based Nosigner, all produced by woodcraft workers in Japan's Tokushima Prefecture.
The TRUSS shelves use pillars and shelves that are triangular in cross section, which adds strength even as they taper off to a razor-thin point. The shape of the plywood-wrapped HATTA sofa was inspired by angular crystals. The SQUARES drawers are done up in a piano finish, polished the traditional Japanese way--with sheepskin.
